Roland G0GZI demonstrating an HF tranciever to the children of Cuddington School.
The children built ZN414 based Medium Wave FM radio receivers based on a coil wrapped around a toilet roll.
The circuitry was contructed on a large "choc-block" screw terminal connector supplied by Jandek
(sadly no longer in business). The kits were extremely successful because the components were difficult to damage:
The battery could be wired with reverse polarity and cause no problems.
All the radios built worked, however many didn't work first time and required some investigation.
This made the experience all the better!
As this thankyou note shows our efforts were
clearly appreciated.
The 1993 New Years Beacon Europe Special Event Station was run from Hartford Village Hall.
This cutting was in the Northwich Chronicle 13-Jan-1993.
This QSL was sent to the stations worked during Beacon Europe December 1992.
